Spoons Across America Cocktail Reception

Friends, SAA staff, supporters, and the SAA Board of Directors came together earlier this month to celebrate SAA programs and participants. Since the start of the 2014-15 school year, hundreds of school children have participated in Take a Taste with Spoons and the Dinner Party Project. This is only the beginning to a very busy year of programming! SAA would like to thank the volunteers, families, and school staff for making these programs so successful for all involved.
Spoons Salad Days at St. Nick’s Alliance

Spoons Across America brought Spoons Salad Days to children and their families at St. Nick’s Alliance in Williamsburg, Brooklyn this summer as part of the launch of the Brooke’s Cooks initiative from the Brooke Jackman Foundation. SAA Program Leader Catherine Lea engaged participants of all ages in a lively discussion about using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create nutritious meals. Everyone set to work to make a salad and vinaigrette, learning a few knife skills and tips for using kitchen tools along the way. As you can tell from the photos, there were a lot of smiles that day!
