AIWF Days of Taste®

AIWF Days of Taste is a discovery-based program for fourth and fifth grade children to learn about food and how it weaves its way through daily life from the farm to the table.

The Days of Taste trademarks and copyrights are the sole and exclusive property of The American Institute of Wine & Food (AIWF). Days of Taste is a national program of The AIWF implemented throughout America by a majority of its 25 chapters in cities throughout the USA. The AIWF New York Chapter has engaged Spoons Across America to implement The AIWF’s Days of Taste® program in the New York area solely on behalf of the AIWF New York Chapter.

The AIWF New York Chapter’s Days of Taste funding has been directly affected by the economic downturn like many Americans who have felt the effects of the economy in the workplace, school and at home. The AIWF New York Chapter is unable to present the Days of Taste for Fall 2009, but are actively fund-raising for the program. 2008 BIG THANK YOU! We want to thank you everyone for their participation in the Days of Taste® program, founded fourteen years ago by New York Chapter Board Advisor Julia Jordan, and The AIWF New York Chapter. Together, we have presented this program to thousands of New York public elementary school children. In 2008, we reached 1,660 students in 22 schools in all five boroughs! We could not have come this far without your help. The Days of Taste® volunteers, including chefs, farmers, culinary students, and hundreds of school volunteers worked hand-in-hand with our sponsors who came together to guide elementary school children through an exploration of food and nutrition.

In this age of fast and frozen foods, we want to teach school children about real food-where it is grown and how it is produced-so they can develop an understanding and appreciation of how good, fresh food is supposed to taste.
