An anonymous donor has generously pledged to donate $35,000 to Spoons and has challenged us to raise an additional $70,000. This will enable us to provide food-, nutrition-, and literacy-based education to children, teachers and families nationwide. Please join us in our mission to improve the health of America's children!

Our programs

GreenMarket Guides
A program led by trained volunteers that allows children, teachers and families to participate in a guided hands-on tour and a specially designed market Treasure Hunt at a CENYC Greenmarket Farmer's Market.

New York Ag Literacy Day
New York Ag Literacy Day educates children on the importance of fostering awareness, understanding, and appreciation of agriculture and the food and fiber system by reading a high quality story book to local second grade classrooms and to provide a hands-on agricultural activity to these classrooms.

The Dinner Party Project®
A dynamic family-focused food education program involving children 5th-8th grade in the entire process of producing a dinner party for their families. The eight-week standards-based cirriculum integrates nutrition, food safety, meal planning, table setting, etiquette, and cooking with math, language, social studies, science, and the arts. Students learn the value of community, teamwork, and sharing, while building self-esteem.

Spoons Food Miles Relay®
A 2-session program that teaches students about freshness, energy use, and about environmental and other benefits of buying and eating locally grown foods.
